Look Who's Coming to Dinner...

In this day of instant communication and information sharing, students should be given the opportunity to learn about other cultures and countries. This site is designed as a way to utilize today's communication tools to our advantage to teach and share information and make this project real for our students.

What is this project all about?

In 2006, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Gavin taught together at Portland Central School in Portland, NSW in Australia. When Mrs. Taylor returned to the United States she kept in touch with Mrs. Gavin, who now teaches at the Kinross Wolaroi School in Orange, NSW. During a conversation regarding education in both countries, they decided to embark on a global communications project where the students from both countries would get a chance to talk and interact about the lives they live, exploring the similarities and differences they face as they grow up.

How can you be a part of it?

Unless you are a member of Mrs. Taylor's Social Studies class or the Kinross Wolaroi School, you can only observe certain pages. Other pages are available for members only. This is an educational project and our first and foremost goal is keeping our students safe online. There will be no posting of personal information regarding any students. This site will be carefully monitored and controlled. If at any time should any information get past one of the teachers or administrators of the site, please let us know immediately by sending an email to kenneth.smead@vbschools.com.
